The Blank Era
The era lost to time
The poorly documented stretch between the Dandelions' story and Xehanort's youth, centered on Scala ad Caelum and the cancelled Missing-Link.
The Blank Era is the period framed by Missing-Link as a gap in recorded history. It belongs after the collapse of Daybreak Town and the foundation of Scala ad Caelum, and before the events surrounding the young Xehanort in Dark Road. It is a historical interval, not a realm or an alternate reality.
Union χ establishes its starting connections. Ephemer survives and founds Scala ad Caelum, while Brain eventually arrives in a later version of the city. Sigurd expects him and recognizes that his arrival was foretold. A statue of Ephemer confirms that Brain's friend is already remembered as the city's founder.
Missing-Link was intended to explore the history between these generations through a new protagonist and Scala's Keyblade society. Its announced placement and public material establish that framework, but its cancellation leaves the complete story untold. The exact duration, every family relationship, and the reason this history becomes obscure have not all been established.
For KHIV, this game was intended to be important to its lore, but due to the cancellation it was implied story elements will be folded into KHIV. We know this to be the case from the inclusion of Sigurd.
