The start of the Series, introducing the Heartless Threat and the Keyblade.
The story starts with Sora, Riku and Kairi on their home world of Destiny Islands. They all yearn to see the outside world. Then one fateful night, their world is consumed by the Heartless. Kairi's heart finds refuge in Sora and Riku accepts the Darkness as a way to leave the world. In this moment, Sora is chosen by the Keyblade to be its wielder.
Sora awakes in Traverse Town, a world where those who lost their worlds go. It is here that he meets Donald and Goofy who have been tasked by King Mickey to find the keyblade and follow it. They decide to join Sora on an adventure to find Riku and Kairi. Their search brings them to many different worlds of light (Disney Worlds), such as Wonderland, Olympus Coliseum, Atlantica, and more, each have been threatened by the Heartless and Sora learns that the Keyblade has the power to seal each worlds keyhole, protecting the heart of the world from Darkness seeping in.
Meanwhile Riku is being manipulated by Maleficent to accept and use the power of darkness and the Heartless. He and Sora cross paths on multiple occasions and a rivalry ensues.

Kairi is the last one, and her heart is within Sora. the trio defeat Maleficent and fight against an Ansem possessed Riku. Sora realizing Kairi is within his heart, uses the Keyblade of Heart to extract her heart. His heart is trapped within a heartless which is then restored by her shortly thereafter.
