Kingdom Hearts II
Final Mix | 2.5
Sora awakes to the Nobody and Organization XIII threat.
The game starts with Roxas spending the last week of summer vacation in Twilight Town with his friends. Strange events and dreams of Sora lead him to discover that he is Sora’s Nobody and that the town is a simulation. Despite Axel’s attempts to stop him, Roxas finds Sora asleep watched over by DiZ. He explains that the only way to awaken Sora is for Roxas to return to him. He rejoins Sora as he states his summer vacation is over.
Sora, Donald and Goofy wake with no memory of Castle Oblivion and only a note saying “Thank Naminé.” They meet with Yen Sid, who explains that when someone with a strong will becomes a Heartless, the body and soul left behind can become a Nobody. These Nobodies are led by Organization XIII which is a group of humanoid Nobodies. The trio sets out to learn about this new threat while searching for Riku and Kairi.
Their journey brings them back to Hollow Bastion, they finally meet up with King Mickey who reveals the leader of Organization XIII is a man named Xehanort's Nobody, the man Ansem, Seeker of Darkness was the heartless of Xehanort and took over Hollow Bastion from the true leader, Ansem the Wise.
While there they help defend the town against a massive Heartless attack by a revived Maleficent. After the battle, Saïx reveals that the Organization has been using Sora’s Keyblade to release hearts from the Heartless and gather them into an artificial Kingdom Hearts. He claims this will give them hearts of their own. To force sora to continue releasing hearts, the Organization is holding Kairi captive.
Searching for a way to reach their stronghold, the trio discovers a passage through the simulated Twilight Town. Axel sacrifices himself to help them through, revealing his friendship with Roxas and apologizing for kidnapping Kairi. They arrive in the World That Never Was, where Sora briefly clashes with Roxas within his heart. This clash ends with Roxas accepting his place within Sora.
Inside the Organization’s castle, Sora reunites with Kairi and Riku, who has taken Ansem’s appearance after giving in to darkness to captuer Roxas. DiZ reveals himself as Ansem the Wise and attempts to digitize Kingdom Hearts. His machine explodes, releasing many of its hearts, Damaging the Artificial Kingdom Hearts and restoring Riku’s appearance. Naminé, revealed to be Kairi’s Nobody, rejoins her, while Roxas accepts his place within Sora.
Sora and Riku defeat Xemnas but become stranded in the Realm of Darkness. A letter from Kairi reaches them, and a door to light opens, allowing them to return to Destiny Islands and reunite with their friends.
After the credits, a new letter arrives from King Mickey.
