Mickey investigates a message in Jiminy's journal and learns who Sora must still save.
After Kingdom Hearts II, Jiminy examines the journal from Sora's first journey. Its pages were erased during Chain of Memories, leaving the note to thank Naminé. However, he discovers another message that he did not write, saying that there are people whose hurt Sora must return to end. Mickey asks Chip and Dale to turn the journal into data so they can investigate it.
The data worlds are filled with bugs, so Mickey guides a Data-Sora through them to repair the journal. He follows a hooded figure who is revealed to be the journal itself, taking Riku's appearance. Meanwhile, Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Jiminy discover that they have also been brought into the Data World.
Maleficent and Pete enter the journal and attempt to take control of its worlds. Maleficent destroys Data-Sora's Keyblade, but he continues through Hollow Bastion with Donald and Goofy. His connections with his friends allow him to summon a Keyblade of his own. He frees Data-Riku from the bugs and eventually defeats Sora's Heartless, which has grown within the journal's data.
Once the journal is repaired, Mickey returns to investigate a new area resembling Castle Oblivion. Data-Sora passes through its floors and confronts a Data-Roxas before meeting Data-Naminé. She explains that the real Naminé left the message after discovering memories belonging to other people within Sora's heart. These include Roxas, Xion, Terra, Aqua and Ventus, who still need his help.
In the end, Mickey writes the letter received by Sora, Riku and Kairi at the end of Kingdom Hearts II. Yen Sid also explains that destroying Ansem and Xemnas will allow Master Xehanort to return, and asks Mickey to bring Sora and Riku for a Mark of Mastery exam.
We are shown Maleficent connecting the Data Worlds to the Book of Prophecies and seeking the book for herself.
