Unreality
An existence beyond Reality
The other side of reality where Quadratum exists, beyond the familiar division between light and darkness.
Unreality is the term Ansem the Wise uses while interpreting Kairi's recovered memories in Melody of Memory. Apprentice Xehanort had described somewhere beyond the worlds of light and darkness. To people on Sora's side, this is a world of fiction, outside the reality they know.
That label is a matter of perspective. Quadratum's inhabitants have their own lives and regard their surroundings as real. The connection to Verum Rex raises questions about how one world's reality can appear as fiction in another.
Sora disappears after abusing the power of waking to overturn the loss of his friends and recover Kairi. His next known destination is Quadratum. Riku reaches toward that same destination through dreams and the Nameless Star's connection, showing that access is possible under exceptional circumstances rather than typical means.
Strelitzia describes Quadratum as an afterworld for herself and Sora. The Final World, where hearts linger on the edge of death, is a separate setting, as are Olympus' Underworld and Coco's Land of the Dead.
For KHIV, it is unclear how Unreality will play a role in the connection with other worlds such as The Land of the Dead.
