Quadratum

Hub world · The city of unreality

The city in Unreality. A place that serves as an "afterlife" for Sora and other keyblade wielders.

Quadratum is a modern metropolis inspired by Tokyo, including Shibuya, Minami-Aoyama, and potentially Shinjuku. It belongs to the other side of reality described in Melody of Memory as unreality or a fictional world. Those terms describe the perspective of Sora's world: the people living in Quadratum have a reality of their own.

The city first appeared in Kingdom Hearts III's secret ending, with Sora and Riku in its streets and Yozora watching from above. Re Mind connects a version of its skyline to Sora's encounter with Yozora. In Melody of Memory, the Nameless Star identifies the city from Riku's dreams, allowing him to open a path there.

Kingdom Hearts IV begins with Sora awakening in an apartment under Strelitzia's care. She describes the city as an afterworld for them, but that does not establish it as a universal destination for the dead. The apartment serves as a base, while Heartless attacks draw Sora into protecting the city alongside the Dandelion Dispatch. While it is confirmed Disney worlds will play a part in the story, it is unclear how they connect to Quadratum

Quadratum also gains inspiration from Final Fantasy Versus XIII. There have been many parallels between this canceled game and KHIV. For instance the city Soldiers are directly inspired by Insomnia soldiers. We also see the airships from the game, and specific characters are fulfilling specific roles of those in the cancelled game.
